    Ali Alzaabi

Ali Alzaabi channels the spirit of Arabian poetic tradition into liquid form. The founder and perfumer behind Jazeel Perfumes, Alzaabi built his house with a singular vision: to render the emotional depth of Arab poetry into sensory experience. His journey into perfumery began not in a traditional atelier but through a personal quest to understand how scent carries memory and longing. He founded Jazeel Perfumes in Dubai, naming the house after the ghazal poetic form that has shaped Arabic literary expression for centuries. Alzaabi approaches fragrance creation as an act of translation, finding the olfactory equivalent of verses written by poets like Nizar Qabbani. His Love Collection represents his most personal work yet, each fragrance an attempt to capture different dimensions of love as the Arab poets have described it for generations. Though he holds a business degree from Florida International University, Alzaabi chose the path of creative entrepreneurship, building Jazeel into a distinct voice in modern Arabian perfumery while remaining close to traditional methods.

    How Ali composes

Alzaabi's signature style centers on rich oriental compositions with a contemporary sensibility. He gravitates toward deep, resinous materials that define Arabian perfumery: oud, amber, saffron, and various forms of incense. His work balances tradition with modern restraint, avoiding excessive sweetness or complexity. For Ghala, released in 2019, he committed to using exclusively natural ingredients, a choice that speaks to his belief in authenticity over convenience. His fragrances tend toward warmth and depth rather than bright florals, reflecting his orientation toward the contemplative rather than the exuberant. The Love Collection showcases his ability to work within oriental frameworks while creating something distinctly his own.

    Philosophy

    What drives Ali

Alzaabi believes perfume serves as a bridge between the physical and emotional worlds. For him, fragrance is not merely cosmetic but a carrier of cultural identity and personal memory. He speaks often about how traditional Arabian perfumery with its oud, bakhoor, and attars carries centuries of ritual significance, marking weddings, religious celebrations, and life's pivotal moments. His work aims to honor this heritage while making it accessible to a contemporary audience. Alzaabi draws direct inspiration from Arabic literature, particularly poetry, viewing each fragrance as an attempt to give scent to emotions that poets have articulated for a thousand years. He creates from an intimate place, drawing on his own emotional landscape as much as on aromatic materials.
