Heritage
A house, in its own words
Olivia Larson, who goes by Livvy, launched La Fleur by Livvy in the summer of 2013 from her home in Grand Junction, Colorado. Originally hailing from Calcutta, India, Larson brought her cultural connection to rich floral traditions to the American West, where she built her perfumery practice from the ground up. Her entry into natural perfumery began with Fleur d'Innocence, the inaugural fragrance released in 2013 that marked her first step into the craft of botanical scent creation. The early years saw steady growth in her craft, with subsequent releases including A Parisian Affair and Fleur De Mystere in 2013, followed by a productive 2015 that brought White Lotus, Puck's Potion, and Forbidden Love. The brand continued expanding its offerings throughout the latter half of the decade, releasing Kupaloke in 2018 and Nur in 2020. A significant milestone came with Resilient, a collaboration with the Molly Brown House Museum in Denver that brought Larson's work into connection with Colorado's cultural heritage. The 2023 release of Jadon marked another chapter in the brand's evolution. Throughout this journey, Larson maintained complete creative independence, serving as the sole perfumer and business operator while building a loyal following among natural perfume enthusiasts who appreciate the handmade quality and personal touch embedded in each bottle.
At the core of La Fleur by Livvy lies a philosophy rooted in the transformative power of flowers and the belief that natural ingredients carry emotional depth synthetic materials cannot replicate. Larson's approach treats perfumery as a meditative practice, where each fragrance begins with careful observation of botanical materials and their natural behaviors. The commitment to all-natural formulations means every scent relies exclusively on plant-derived materials including essential oils, absolutes, and CO2 extracts, rejecting synthetic shortcuts even when natural alternatives prove more challenging to work with. This stance places the brand firmly within the natural perfumery movement, where artisan perfumers prioritize ingredient integrity over convenience or cost efficiency. Larson's self-taught background shapes her philosophy of continuous experimentation, viewing each fragrance as a learning opportunity rather than a finished product. The name itself, La Fleur, emerged from what she describes as a deep passion for flowers, a love that permeates the brand's identity and informs nearly every composition. By keeping production small and intimate, she preserves the handmade character of each fragrance, ensuring that customers receive products shaped by individual attention rather than industrial standardization. This philosophy extends to her relationship with customers, whom she engages directly through social media and community platforms, sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses into her creative process.
