Heritage
A house, in its own words
Alexandre Tadeu da Costa was seventeen years old when he launched Cacau Show in 1988, starting with door-to-door catalog sales of chocolate Easter eggs. The young entrepreneur built his business from these humble beginnings, capitalizing on Brazil's cultural affinity for high-quality chocolate confections. As the company grew, it expanded from a home-based operation into a nationwide network of boutiques, reportedly becoming the largest fine chocolate retail chain in Brazil. The chocolate heritage runs deep in the brand's DNA, with every product reflecting decades of expertise in cocoa sourcing, processing, and confectionery artistry. This foundation in chocolate craftsmanship became the cornerstone of the brand's identity and ultimately informed its expansion into fragrance, where the rich, complex notes of chocolate could be interpreted through the lens of perfumery rather than confectionery. Cacau Show approaches fragrance as an extension of its chocolate-making philosophy: both disciplines require mastery of layered, complex ingredients and an understanding of how individual notes interact to create a cohesive experience. The brand believes that scent carries emotional weight, much like the way chocolate triggers memories and sensations. By translating chocolate into fragrance form, the company aims to capture the sensory pleasure of cocoa without the caloric reality, offering wearers an indulgent olfactory experience that feels both familiar and novel. The philosophy prioritizes authenticity, ensuring that chocolate accords in their fragrances derive from real olfactory materials and techniques rather than synthetic shortcuts.
