Kelly Jones
Kelly Jones grew up in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and spent her early career in a world far removed from fragrance: she worked as a Corporate Planner at Toyota, crafting strategies for the auto industry. Something shifted. She left that career behind, spent her savings on raw materials and glass vials, and moved to Tucson, Arizona where she opened Salud, a mix-your-own fragrance bar. Jones taught herself the craft, training her nose through rigorous study and hands-on experimentation. Her big break came at Sniffapalooza's 2012 Spring Fling, where she launched her Notes of Wine collection, instantly positioning her at the intersection of two sensory pleasures: wine and fragrance. Based in New York, she founded KELLY + JONES as both a niche fragrance brand and an olfactive branding agency, creating experiential scent identities for clients. Her unconventional path from corporate planning to perfumery gives her work a distinctive perspective, blending analytical precision with creative intuition.

How Kelly composes
Jones specializes in wine-inspired fragrance design, translating the aromatic language of varietals and terroir into wearable compositions. Her style favors natural materials with clear, identifiable character. She gravitates toward fruit-forward accords, subtle vinous nuances, and the earthy warmth of oak and grape. Her formulations balance accessibility with niche-level depth, making her scents approachable yet distinctive. The brand aesthetic leans toward sophisticated minimalism, letting the juice speak for itself.
Philosophy
What drives Kelly
Jones calls herself a scent sommelier, a title that captures her philosophy: fragrance, like wine, deserves to be experienced thoughtfully, with attention to region, character, and emotion. She approaches each creation as an opportunity to translate the sensory memory of a place or moment into liquid form. Rather than chasing trends, she draws inspiration from vineyard landscapes and valley atmospheres, asking what a scent can evoke beyond simple pleasure. Her work bridges fine fragrance and experiential branding, treating scent as a storytelling medium that companies and individuals can use to communicate identity and mood.
