    Eva Henriksson

Eva Henriksson builds her fragrances from the ground up, rooted in the vast, austere landscapes of northern Sweden. She launched Scents from Norra Norrland AB in January 2015 through a Kickstarter campaign, setting up her production studio in Piteå, Norrbotten, where she formulates and manufactures every scent herself. Her work centers on a compelling premise: translating specific locations into olfactory form. She does not chase mainstream appeal. Instead, she captures the raw materials of place, from scorched wood to coastal stone, and distills them into wearable compositions. Her background as a beauty editor in Helsingborg gave her early exposure to the Swedish fragrance industry before she pivoted toward independent creation. The Swedish market took notice when SweDoft, a company she contributed to, broke sales records in the Middle East. Her work with the Nordic fragrance scene extends to notable collaborations, including connections with Norwegian house Son Venin, which earned placement in the legendary Nose boutique in Tokyo. She operates outside the major fragrance houses, maintaining full creative and operational control of her brand.

    How Eva composes

Henriksson favors a stripped-back, material-driven style rooted in Nordic minimalism. She works primarily with ingredients that reflect her surroundings: coniferous woods, maritime notes, mineral tones, and the smoky qualities of northern forests. Her technique involves layering authentic environmental impressions rather than building from abstract concepts. Molecule 8 exemplifies her approach, recreating eight distinct locations within a single composition, moving from burned wood chips to sea air, sand, stones, and forest floor. The result is a fragrance that functions as a landscape portrait. Her aesthetic leans toward restraint and precision, avoiding excess while maintaining emotional depth. She prefers to let raw materials speak rather than masking them with heavy construction.

    Philosophy

    What drives Eva

For Henriksson, every fragrance begins with a geographic memory. She selects a location, studies its sensory inventory, and works toward recreating that specific moment in time. Her process is meditative and site-specific, treating each composition as a record of a place rather than a generic concept. She draws from the Nordic environment directly, incorporating materials that reflect the seasons and terrain of northern Sweden. The goal is not escapism but reconnection: giving wearers a way to carry familiar landscapes with them. This place-first approach shapes her entire creative philosophy, steering her away from trend-driven formulas toward something more permanent and personal.
