Violaine Collas builds her fragrances from Paris, where she serves as a senior perfumer in Mane's fine fragrance division. She trained at ISIPCA in Versailles under the guidance of Dominique Ropion and Maurice Roucel, two of the most respected noses in French perfumery. Before joining Mane, she spent twelve formative years at Symrise, developing the technical precision and creative range that now defines her work. Her portfolio spans luxury houses like Amouage and Lalique, boutique labels including BDK Parfums and État Libre d'Orange, and contemporary brands such as Dolce & Gabbana and Atkinsons. She created Crème de Cuir for BDK Parfums, a fragrance that earned critical acclaim for its sophisticated take on leather. Throughout her career, Collas has demonstrated an unusual breadth, moving fluidly between intimate independent releases and high-profile designer collaborations without ever repeating herself.
Philosophy
Collas approaches each brief as a conversation between imagination and raw material. She often begins with something visual, a color or a painting, before a single ingredient enters the equation. "Yes definitely, I have a color in mind when I create, as well as a painting or a visual memory," she explained in an interview with The Perfume Society. She finds particular excitement in the global reach of modern perfumery, the idea that a fragrance conceived in Paris might be discovered and worn by someone on the opposite side of the world. She treats every project individually, understanding that some fragrances emerge from a single session while others require years of patient refinement.
