Every house has done a fresh fragrance. The problem is most of them stop there, the opening shine, then blank. Eau Sauvage Cologne is different. François Demachy put all the energy in the top but made sure the heart has substance and the base has weight. It doesn't smell like most colognes, which smell like air fresheners and waiting rooms. Dior's version smells like it just walked in from the Mediterranean coast in the sunshine, citrus and woody depth coexisting, making you remember this isn't your grandfather's herbal remedy.Eau Sauvage
Here's the thing about this cologne: it smells like it's older than it is. Not old in a dusty way, old like someone who learned their taste in a decade that hadn't invented irony yet.Eau de Cologne (2014)
