    Jorge Fernandez

Jorge Fernandez did not attend fragrance school. He taught himself, studying materials with the focus of someone who understood early that intuition and discipline could coexist. Born and raised in Catalonia, he built his knowledge slowly, methodically, until Givaudan invited him in as Senior Perfumer. That appointment marked a turning point, but Fernandez had already spent years earning his reputation in niche circles. He developed fragrances for houses like Ex Nihilo and D'Orsay, earning a following among collectors who recognized something different in his work. When Ex Nihilo celebrated its tenth anniversary, the brand handed him complete creative freedom. Fernandez chose inspiration from Place Vendôme, translating a landmark into scent. His trajectory has taken him from Spain to Dubai, where he now works, but his aesthetic remains rooted in Mediterranean memory. The warmth he grew up with never left his formulas.

    The signature

    How Jorge composes

His signature lies in texture and contrast. Fernandez frequently pairs warm florals with deep woods and resins, creating pieces that feel both opulent and grounded. He gravitates toward oud, cedar, and amber, but uses them in unexpected ratios. The Mediterranean surfaces in his work through brightness and salt, a nod to the landscape he carries with him. His compositions tend toward the dramatic, refusing to disappear into politeness. Collectors recognize his fragrances by their longevity and their refusal to follow convention. Each creation feels considered, sometimes bold, never safe.

    Philosophy

    What drives Jorge

Fernandez believes in the power of intention. Every material he selects must earn its place. He avoids excess, sees no virtue in complexity for its own sake. His creative process begins with a question: what should this smell like, and more importantly, what should it feel like? He designs for emotion first, structure second. That philosophy drives him to seek contrast and surprise, to build fragrances that hold tension rather than resolve it neatly. Fernandez draws energy from his roots and from the sensory richness of his adopted city, finding stimulation in the collision of cultures and climates.
