    Charlotte Jullien

Charlotte Jullien left France eight years ago with a clear destination in mind: Amsterdam, a city not traditionally associated with perfumery, but one that offered her the space to build something on her own terms. Trained at Keva Europe, she developed her craft through the rigorous discipline of the French tradition while carving out an independent voice in an industry dominated by heritage houses. Her break came through collaboration with Douglas Morel on Marie-Stella-Maris's Eau de Parfum Naturelle collection, where her work on Flower Water and Amber Haze demonstrated an instinct for restraint and emotional clarity. A graduate of the trainee bench who grew into a full creation partner, Jullien now shapes the brand's fragrance identity alongside her own projects. Her rise reflects a broader shift in European perfumery: young, internationally mobile creators who treat formulas not as commercial exercises but as personal statements.

    The signature

    How Charlotte composes

Jullien's signature lies in her treatment of contrast: pairing bright, aqueous florals with warm, resinous bases in ways that feel意外 yet inevitable. Flower Water showcases her affinity for透明感, capturing the scent of petals after rain rather than the petals themselves. Amber Haze reveals a more sensual dimension, building warmth through layered woods and resins without heaviness. No.19 Suede Spice demonstrated her ability to work within a specific thematic brief while maintaining her characteristic balance between freshness and depth. Her ingredient choices favor naturals and transparent synthetics that let individual notes remain legible within the composition rather than melting into a uniform whole.

    Philosophy

    What drives Charlotte

Jullien approaches fragrance as a conversation between skin and scent, one she facilitates rather than controls. She has spoken about the importance of letting a fragrance evolve on its wearer, a philosophy rooted in her early training where she learned that the most compelling perfumes are those that feel alive rather than static. Her work prioritizes emotional resonance over technical demonstration. She chooses ingredients for how they make someone feel, not just how they smell. This human-centered perspective shapes everything from her initial concept sketches to her final adjustments, keeping the end wearer's experience at the center of every decision.
