The Artisan
The Story of Quentin Bisch, Natalie Gracia-Cetto
Quentin Bisch and Nathalie Gracia-Cetto may have arrived at perfumery by different routes, but their trajectories converge with striking results. Bisch grew up in Strasbourg, spent his twenties in Paris studying communications and dramatic arts, and briefly pursued music and theatre direction before a single internship in Grasse rewired his ambitions entirely. Initial rejections from perfumery school only sharpened his resolve. He eventually landed as an assistant at Robertet, working alongside Michel Almairac, before Givaudan's perfumery school opened its doors to him in 2010. Cetto, raised in the fragrance capital of Grasse, took the scientific path: a doctorate in pharmacology gave way to formal perfumery training at Givaudan, grounding her creative instincts in a rigorous understanding of raw materials. Both built formidable solo careers before their paths crossed inside Givaudan's Paris atelier. When two perfumers this accomplished begin to co-create, the results carry a particular electricity. Their collaborations reveal a rare meeting of minds.
Philosophy
Bisch describes himself as someone who thinks in perfume constantly, perpetually composing in his mind even when away from the lab. He calls intuition his compass and hard work the engine that makes it usable. Cetto brings complementary discipline, her scientific grounding tempering artistic instinct with precision. Together, they share an obsession with emotional truth: fragrance as storytelling rather than mere chemistry. Bisch draws openly from his theatrical past, treating each composition as a performance with its own arc, tension, and release. Cetto approaches her work like an architect, constructing frameworks that allow emotion to unfold with intention. Their joint philosophy rests on a conviction that modern fragrance must move people before it impresses them.
Creative Approach
Bisch's signature lives in bold contrasts and unexpected alliances: creamy florals pressed against dark, smoky woods; sweet gourmand warmth undercut by mineral crispness. He has a particular gift for rose, orchestrating it across contexts from luminous daytime wear to intense, resinous nocturnes. His work with amber, oud, and lactonic notes carries an unmistakable warmth that reads as both generous and slightly daring. Cetto brings structural elegance and material intelligence, favouring florals that feel both refined and emotionally complex. Her palette leans toward polished classics executed with contemporary tension. Together, their co-created fragrances tend toward rich, multi-layered constructions with strong sillage and real longevity. They favour ingredients that command attention without resorting to volume.
